STREET CHILDREN

First thing in the morning a local resident who brought Věra some anti-stress coloring books suggested that local residents could get discounts for expositions in town. The town would get a grant to cover the difference. That would get people to come downtown. One thorn in the eye for locals is the Wágner senior home, a for-profit organization that gets money from the city. Why does the International Music Festival get city grants and still cost an arm and a leg, so locals can’t enjoy it?

Lunch today is by Ondra from the café next door. Věra wanted to take a picture of the schnitzel, but her hunger was greater and she forget all about it.

This afternoon, we cleaned up the mess in front of the house. It looked like it would be really crowded on the street. So we organized a hair salon outdoors and Jíťa did a knitting circle. There was even some belly dancing.

Věra’s dad chastised us for hanging around Široká while the garden needs work – nobody is harvesting the peas, and the strawberries are also getting ripe. So Věra goes to tend the garden.
